Suit Cleaning and Pressing in Plantation, FL

The most common way a good suit is ruined is not neglect. It is cleaning it too often.

Over cleaning is real damage

Every clean puts wool through solvent and heat. Do it too frequently and the fibre loses its natural oils, the cloth goes thin and shiny at the elbows and seat, and the canvas structure inside the jacket softens so the shoulders stop holding their line.

For a suit in normal office rotation, cleaning every four to six wears is a reasonable rhythm. Sooner if something has been spilled, if it has been worn somewhere smoky, or if it has been worn hard in heat.

Between cleans, the things that genuinely help are unglamorous. Hang the jacket on a broad shaped hanger rather than a wire one so the shoulders keep their shape. Brush it down after wearing. Let it rest a day between wears so the wool can recover. Air it rather than immediately shutting it in a closed wardrobe, particularly in this climate.

Always send both pieces

This one costs people suits. Jacket and trousers must be cleaned together every time, even when only the trousers look like they need it.

Cleaning changes colour very slightly, and it is cumulative. Clean the trousers three times while the jacket sits in the wardrobe and eventually you have two pieces that no longer match under daylight. You will not notice it happening. You will notice the result, and at that point nothing can be done.

Pressing between cleans

Often what a suit actually needs is a press rather than a clean. If it is not soiled but has lost its crispness, pressing restores the finish without putting the cloth through solvent again. It is cheaper and considerably kinder to the garment. Ask for it by name.

Before an event

Leave more time than you think. If you need a suit for Friday, sending it Thursday evening leaves no room for anything unexpected, and unexpected things are exactly what deadlines attract. Tell us the date when you book and we will work backwards from it.

Plantation collections

Plantation mixes established residential streets with a lot of office space, so we collect from both. If you would rather we came to your office than your home, that is normal here. Collection and delivery are free.
