How Long Does Dry Cleaning Take?
The honest answer is that it depends on three things, and only one of them is the garment.
What determines the timing
Where the work happens. If a shop ships garments to a central plant, the transport and the queue set the pace, which is why two to three days is the common answer. All of our work is done in our own plant in Miramar, so there is no transport leg.
What the item is. Some things are a single process and some are a sequence that genuinely cannot be compressed.
Whether you said it was urgent. The one people forget. Without a deadline attached, a garment joins the ordinary flow.
Realistic timings
- Standard dry cleaning, suits, dresses, trousers: same day is usually possible if it reaches us early enough
- Laundered shirts: typically next day, often same day
- Wash and fold: usually next day
- Comforters and bedding: allow a few days, since drying properly is the slow part and rushing it is how fill gets ruined
- Drapes: several days, longer if take down and rehang is involved
- Leather and suede: a week or more, because cleaning and reconditioning are separate stages
- Area rugs: a week or more, as controlled drying cannot be hurried
- Wedding gowns and preservation: longer again, and this is one you should never rush
- Restoration work: assessed case by case
Anything at the longer end of that list is long for a reason. The time is doing something.
How to actually get a deadline met
Do not ask whether same day is available. Say what you need and when: I need this jacket by six tonight.
That gives us a question we can answer properly. If we can do it, we will. If we cannot, you will know immediately, while you still have time to make another plan. An apology at five o'clock is worth nothing to you.
Other things that help:
- Send it as early in the day as possible
- Flag stains up front, since an unexpected one mid process costs time
- Send both pieces of a suit together
- For an event, build in a day of slack
Our hours
Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm, closed Sunday. Early opening is deliberate, because it is what makes same day realistic for people who drop off before work.
